PASSWORD contest

Next Feb 20th, 2020, 12 of our brave students will take part in the yearly contest organized by the IES Agra de Leborís, in A Laracha: PASSWORD 
This time we will have to play against the organizers and students from Ordes. 
Who do you think is going to win??? 😉

6 pairs of students, 5 words to define in 1 minute, 2 rounds per IES. 
It's going to be quite difficult, but we're working on it  😎

JUVENES TRANSLATORES 2019

These three brave students took part in the translation contest "Juvenes Translatores" 2019, organised by the EU. For the first time the contest was totally online with the help of paper dictionaries - no translators, google, online dictionaries...allowed!!!

Believe it or not, the most difficult aspect in translation is how to say something in your own language; you need be careful with the meaning, the context, sarcasm...and many other aspects. For example, how would you translate this sentence into Spanish? "...Greta Thunberg was the first name on most lips. (My computer keeps
autocorrecting her name to ‘Great Thunberg’...". And this is just one example of the difficulties that Carla, Ana and Carlos had to solve on the 21st November. They worked hard for 2 hours (which included the break between 11:10 - 11:45) and did a very good job. Now, we only have to wait for the results in February. If one of them is the winner...Brussels will be the next stop with an amazing award ceremony. Thank you very much for your participation and your time. Good luck!!!

Melide - USA exchange

One month ago, approximately, one teacher from Nordonia Middle School in Ohio, and two teachers from Lemont High School in Illionis agreed with us to start a students' exchange by means of FLIPGRID.

FLIPGRID is a website that allows us, teachers, to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers introduce topics, and students post video responses.

2º ESO bilingual, CUALE A1, A2 and B1 have already introduced themselves to American students who are their age, and they have been learning from each other about their routines, school, subjects, hobbies, etc.

American students practise their Spanish and students from Melide practice their English.

This has been our first contact, so hopefully we will start a well-organised project throughout the whole academic year 2019-20, with more Melide students involved.
